DC Rushton Interview at Comic-Con 2010

DC sent this to me as it is from last years San Diego Comic-Con. He was interviewed by Underground Wellness at the convention. Here he explains his character and lets you know what makes him STRONG.

After the stupid commercial, it starts at 2:40 in the video.

Work just got a bit cooler because of Anime

I actually have a printout at work hanging of the Gurren Lagan Logo. I also placed a quote from the show on it as an inspirational thing for me. I mean my job is really tedious while demanding at the same time and seriously suxz.

"Go beyond the impossible and kick reason to the curb! That's the Gurren way!"

One of the supervisors saw this and we got to talking. We talked about Gurren Lagann, Vanguard, Akira, Ghost in the Shell ...  He also talked about Yuri and Yaoi and knew the difference which was so damn cool.

I am sorry to note that I could not go to Otakon 2010 in Baltimore this year due to limits in funds. btw: can you make some updated banners as you still have 2008. I was invited to go to with a group from work to Anime USA in November. It is in Virginia and I may actually have some cash then. I will have to see how things are in the coming months.

Wonder Festival 2009 Figure Review - Part Duo

Here is my second part of the Wonder Festival Figures. I decided I also needed to review the ones outside of Queen's Blade that I would also like to have.

I saw too many that I wanted, but I was able to narrow it down to these. I know some of these will be a pretty penny, but always keep my eyes on the prize! Damn there were so many HOT figures at this WonFest, I really wish I could of been there.

I noticed that this seemed to be filled with K-On and Nendoroids - not what I generally collect these, but I know that there are a lot of you that adore them. I may have to get the Nendoroid of Yoko from Gurren Lagann to see why these are so popular.

What is your favorite figure from this last show?

Without further a-do, here is my other wishing well.

Creator’s Labo Yamato Tsukasa Bullet: Heat Blade

Kyrie Rason from Valkyrie Chronicles

Hatsune Miku VN02

Black Rock Shooter Alternate

Tony Taka's Santa Girl

Yoko

Yea, I had many more, but WTF, like I have the cash for all that - LOL

Wonder Festival 2009 Queen's Blade Review

Wonder Festival 2009 was this past weekend for those that lived around Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Center. Being in the US, I have to live vicariously through my blogger friends.

It was great to see some of the new Queen's Blade figures coming out. There were more than I thought would of been. The one I am most excited to see was Revoltech of Menace. I was glad to see that a 3rd set of Trading Figure busts was coming out, but what is the third one?!? I also have my eyes on Risty as she looks nicely designed and detailed

What is your favorite Queen's Blade figure from this last show?

Without further a-do, here is what I have been able to wrestle together for various sites.

Risty by MegaHouse

Cattleya
and Rana

Revoltech Nanael

Revoltech Melona

Revoltech Menace

Trading Figure Bust of Nanael

Trading Figure Bust of Airi

Key Chains by Good Smile Company

Yasumicon 2009 Update

Me, my wife and son packed up into the RAV4 to head down to the convention. Was a nice little drive on the turnpike and only had one missed exit - LOL.

We were able to find the FIU campus pretty easily. Finding the convention, well that needed some detective work. We had to stop and get some general directions on where this was being held. After getting some direction to the student section, we saw where it was (Cos-Players sighted). Next adventure was finding parking - ack! Car parked, family unloaded and on the way.

Took a moment to find the Registration table after passing some artists that I have commissioned with at other cons. After registration, we could not for the life of us find the Dealer area. They had a map which I downloaded of the con, but we discovered it was all wrong. As it turned out, the registration tables were actually in a different building than on the map.

After some mass confusion with all the cos-players and students, we finally found everything. My son picked up 3 small Gundams and wife picked up some more pins for her purse, while I got nada. I did find a Queen's Blade Mellona Pink version for $65 and tried to pick it up at $60, but no sale. I was going to go back to get it anyway later, but my wife gave me that look . . . you know the look, so it stayed at the dealer table . . . !@#$%^&*()_*.

It was a pretty hot day and due to the masses, we decide to leave early. I ended up with nothing - no statues and no new artwork. But I do a 20% off coupon for one thing at Tate's Comics. I may get something yet out of all this.

Some suggestions for the next con they have:
  1. Directions where the Con is location after getting to the Campus for those who do not go to the college. If not that, maybe some signs pointing the way.
  2. Parking instructions when on campus for those not familiar
  3. Possible contact number
  4. If you change the location of the Registration tables, please have updated maps of where everything is.

Yasumicon 2009

ARGH! Forgot to post this yesterday as I was busy with stupid stuff.

FREE ANIMECON > Yasumicon 2009

"Yasumicon, the convention for the fans and by the fans is back and remains FREE for anyone to attend. It will once again be held at the Florida International University, University Park Campus on July 11th and 12th for its seventh year! The theme this year is "Cyber Punk." So you can expect a lot of awesome music this year!"

They will have an Artist Alley (my favorite for my sketch book). Game Room, Dealers and Panels. They will also have a Con Comic by the handle of Aaron Pabon and a Rock Band
that specializes in video game music and much more out of NY called Arm Cannon.

It is about a 44 mile drive for me, so I may be heading down this weekend to see what is happening. I will have my sketch book in hand and a wish list as well. I will update everyone with what I get (if anything due to $$ being tight) later in the week.
